Mount Huangshan People's Hospital was founded in 1938, formerly Tunxi Citizen Hospital. After more than 80 years, it has developed into a Grade III Grade A comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, health care, rehabilitation and first aid. It is a non directly affiliated hospital and clinical college of Wannan Medical College, a master training center of Wannan Medical College, a member unit of the provincial regional specialized medical center of the First Affiliated Hospital of University of Science and Technology of China (Anhui Provincial Hospital), a cooperative hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University, a friendly cooperative unit of the China-Japan Friendship Hospital, an international emergency rescue center (SOS) network hospital, a military civilian integration medical consortium unit of the characteristic medical center of the strategic support force, and a member unit of the tumor specialized medical consortium of the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Fudan University.

There are 53 quality control centers in Mount Huangshan City, including clinical, laboratory, pathology, anesthesia, blood transfusion, and pharmacy, Mount Huangshan City Critical Maternity Treatment Center, Mount Huangshan City Critical Newborn Treatment Center, and Mount Huangshan City Trauma Treatment Center are all located in this hospital. Approved as the second batch of national standardized training bases for resident physicians in October 2017. In July 2018, it was approved as the Mount Huangshan Collaborative Center of the National Telemedicine and Internet Medical Center. In October 2019, it was awarded the standard version chest pain center by the headquarters of China Chest Pain Center. In November 2020, it was awarded the National Advanced Stroke Center Unit by the Brain Prevention Committee of the National Health Commission.

In the performance evaluation of national tertiary comprehensive public hospitals in 2018, 2019, and 2021, our hospital ranked 8th among tertiary comprehensive hospitals in Anhui Province, and 2nd, 3rd, and 3rd among prefecture level hospitals. Ranked 9th among third level comprehensive public hospitals in Anhui Province and 4th among prefecture level hospitals in 2022. In 2023, our hospital was rated as A in the performance evaluation of a national tertiary comprehensive public hospital.

The hospital covers an area of 80 acres. At present, there are more than 1490 approved beds, with an annual outpatient volume of over 900000 and an annual discharge of over 50000 patients. There are 35 clinical departments, 12 medical technology departments, and 9 clinical teaching and research rooms.

In June and August 2018, the Department of Respiratory Medicine and the Department of Spinal Surgery respectively joined the "National Respiratory Clinical Research Center · Sino Japanese Hospital Respiratory Specialty Medical Consortium" and the "National Famous Medical Formula Key Research Laboratory Cervical Disease Research Center · Sino Japanese Hospital Upper Cervical Specialty Medical Consortium". Mount Huangshan Innovation Workstation of Professor Jiang Geling, Mount Huangshan Obstetrics Expert Workstation of Anhui Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Hu Xueqiang Expert Workstation, Wu Qiang Expert Workstation, Liu Kaijiang Expert Workstation, Military civilian Integration Medical Consortium of Strategic Support Force Characteristic Medical Center, Remote Consultation Center of PLA General Hospital (301 Hospital), and Medical Consortium of Fudan University Affiliated Cancer Hospital have been established to realize "cloud radiotherapy".

The hospital is working hard to improve its comprehensive medical service capacity in accordance with the model of one hospital and multiple districts. It has built and put into use the stomatological hospital district of Mount Huangshan People's Hospital (Mount Huangshan Dental Hospital), the western district of Mount Huangshan People's Hospital (Mount Huangshan Infectious Diseases Hospital), and the Women and Children's Branch of Mount Huangshan People's Hospital. Among them, the Western District (Mount Huangshan Infectious Diseases Hospital) is located in the south of Lishan Avenue, Tunxi District, Mount Huangshan City, covering an area of 24 mu, with a total construction area of 37000 square meters and 250 beds. The Women's and Children's Branch is located on the south side of the hospital headquarters, covering an area of 7 acres, with a total construction area of 43000 square meters and a planned number of 570 beds.

The hospital currently has 1693 employees, including 516 doctors, 780 nurses, 151 technicians, and 80 pharmacists. Having over 1300 medical devices worth over 10000 yuan, including 3.0T magnetic resonance imaging and 1.5T magnetic resonance imaging PET-CT、SPET-CT、 Linear accelerator, 256 slice CT, 64 slice 128 slice CT, Optima 540 16 slice CT machine, cabin CT, OCT, endoscopic ultrasound, ICU central monitoring system DSA、DR、 60 sets of equipment worth over one million yuan, including high-end color ultrasound, ECMO, 3D high-definition laparoscopy, and cabin PCR nucleic acid testing laboratory.

Routine interventional treatment of acute ischemic/hemorrhagic cerebrovascular disease, Parkinson's Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), cardiac resynchronization therapy (three chamber pacemaker), three-dimensional mapping atrial fibrillation radiofrequency ablation, coronary artery rotational milling, percutaneous coronary balloon dilatation, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, thoracoscopic radical resection of lung cancer, laparoscopic radical resection of gastric cancer/colon cancer/bladder cancer, laparoscopic right hemihepatectomy, laparoscopic pancreatoduodenectomy, pulse indicating continuous cardiac output monitoring technology PICCO Finger replantation surgery, internal fixation of upper cervical fractures, correction of spinal deformities, endoscopic spine surgery, hip and knee joint revision surgery, joint replacement surgery, dangerous placenta previa treatment technology, oral implantation technology, plasma exchange technology, etc., using endoscopic techniques such as intervertebral foramen endoscopy, arthroscopy, urinary tract endoscopy, thoracoscopy, laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, etc. to treat diseases.
